U.S. Navy Awards WISER Prize for Location, Navigation, and Timing Solution

The U.S. Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic has named WISER Systems, Inc. a winner in the Palmetto Tech Bridge Prize Challenge 2021.

RALEIGH, NC, March 25, 2021 This week NIWC Atlantic named WISER Systems, a leader in wireless location and tracking systems, a top prize winner for the Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) category in the U.S. Navy’s Palmetto Tech Bridge Prize Challenge 2021.

Preceding the NIWC Atlantic award, WISER’s ground-breaking technology has garnered acclaim as a Phase I, II, and III winner in the U.S. Army’s inaugural xTechSearch program (2018), a top 10 and semifinalist in NASA’s global iTech competition (2019), and a United States Air Force (AFWERX) grant winner in 2020.

The Tech Bridge Prize Challenge focused on “innovative technology concepts” that address critical needs for the Marine Corps. As a PNT category winner, WISER is one of only three top prize recipients in NIWC Atlantic’s challenge. Prize winners are eligible for acquisition opportunities connected to the competition, in addition to the challenge’s cash prize.

WISER’s challenge submission focused on delivering location data without reliance on GPS. WISER has accomplished this in a variety of industrial applications using WISER’s own Redundant Radio Localization and Tracking (RRLT) technology. Like GPS, WISER RRLT delivers real-time positioning data. Unlike GPS, WISER’s wireless Locator system operates precisely and reliably indoors and underground, in addition to outdoor use.

“In-the-moment location data is a critical concern across industries and in defense,” said WISER’s CEO Dr. Elaine Rideout. “Situational awareness often depends on a current picture of where things are, and that’s the heart of WISER’s solution. We’re proud that our RRLT technology can support critical PNT initiatives in the U.S. Navy and other defense entities.”

WISER’s recent defense work includes contracts with the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as several U.S. aerospace and defense contractors.

About NIWC Atlantic

NIWC Atlantic—formerly known Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic—is responsible for system integration, development, and acquisition related to “information warfare capabilities.” This includes support for initiatives for “the naval, joint and national warfighter.”

About WISER Systems, Inc.

WISER’s innovative Redundant Radio Localization and Tracking (RRLT) delivers scalable real-time positioning without requiring—or interfering with—WiFi or GPS. The system autonomously reports precise (sub-meter-to inch-level) coordinates via a computer or mobile device and is accurate even without line-of-sight in cluttered, metallic, or complex manufacturing environments where conventional tracking technologies perform poorly. The system is lightweight and portable and can be deployed in minutes, indoors or out. Although WISER’s Locator has only been on the market for a few years, 25% of WISER customers are Fortune 500 companies, including several large aerospace, automotive, and defense organizations, as well as multiple U.S. Government agencies. WISER designs and manufactures its products in North America.
